Welcome to BreviFitness!

This is the beginning of a blog where fitness and health matter...

Anu and I are beginning to document our journey thru fast running, heavy lifting and great cooking (Paleo/Primal).  Given that the New Year is right around the corner, we thought we would reflect on 2011... all the people and opportunities that made this project possible.  We look forward to sharing our knowledge, tips, products and experiences with you!

This was a huge year personally and professionally.   I completed an Incubator Intensive with Ladies Who Launch of NYC.  With the help of Stella Grizont and all the fabulous ladies in the group, I was able to grow our dreams of entrepreneurship into a reality.  They helped me clarify goals and set into motion what would be a phenomenal year.  I plan on joining them again in 2012! 

Anu and I then signed up for two incredible activities, the 9 + 1 program with the New York Road RunnersCrossfit L1 Certification We completed 9 races and volunteered for the NYC ING Marathon to qualify for the 2012 NYC ING Marathon. Stay tuned to join us for our journey to the 2012 NYC ING Marathon!

In March we completed the CrossFit L1 Certification at CrossFit Virtuosity in Brooklyn. We also attended the CrossFit Games. WOW! We cannot say enough wonderful things about these experiences.

We reached out to the things that inspired us.  If I needed a pick me up, I scheduled a day at Trapeze School New York and if Anu needed to wind down, I sent him to Fly or Hike with Outdoor Bound.   Many incredible events, Anu hitting his chin with a barbell and one broken toe later (another victim of the Vibram Fivefinger movement) we are ready to start sharing our adventures and lessons learned.

Anu & Ruschelle Khanna

Anu brings “order” to BreviFitness. Anu is an adventurer and loves exploring everything from weight training to sports like Parkour, Muay Thai, sky diving, tennis, gymnastics,running, squash, and beach volleyball. He loves to have fun.  After moving to US, from India, Anu took a corporate job, which kept him stuck to a chair for 10- 12 hours a day (well, he moved sometimes to get to the nearest watering hole…). In this human zoo, Anu began to ponder the nature of fitness in the US.  He realized that there needed to be a better path to health besides logging hours at the gym, counting calories on the treadmill, waiting for machines and still feeling guilty for sitting all day.

Ruschelle puts the “short” in BreviFitness. This miniature powerhouse enjoys modern dance and lifting heavy things.  She practices yoga regularly and spends her spare time swinging from a trapeze.  Ruschelle is a licensed therapist and is passionate about combining positive, time-limited coaching techniques with movement.  She also loves teaching others about the benefits of a natural, Paleo Diet.

Together, they have spent the past three years enjoying the tremendous variety in fitness and health that the city has to offer.   They enjoy an active lifestyle that includes CrossFit, barefoot running, cooking Paleo/Zone and playing with their incredible pets Bummer and Aday.  Not only do Ruschelle and Anu have a list of bonafide Master’s Degrees and personal training credentials including NASM and CrossFit, their life’s passions have afforded them years of travel and kinesthetic escapades.  They have assisted hundreds of individuals in moving forward with their health and fitness goals.
